Pirate party ideas
Boys love pirate parties - its official! but pirate parties are not just for boys! They are just as much fun for girls and are a unique party to plan because there is no limit to what you can do for a pirate themed party, you can do what you like for your party, you could of course have a pirates of the carribean birthday party but you could just as easily create your own theme - think parrots, peg legs and pinstripes!
Ideas for a pirate birthday party
Here are some ideas for your childrens pirate party
- Have a pirate costume party- you can find many childrens pirate costumes online or look around your local shop for pirate party supplies, you could even make your own pirate costume!
- Decorate your house or garden, pirate style - pirates like gold and jewels right? and treasure of course, you could make a pirate treasure chest out of a cardboard box and fill it with pirate party favours or chocolate coins, treats and treasure all in one and a pretty cool decoration for your party - I bet the children would love to help make it too! How about an island party in the garden? you could make your "treasure island" very simply by placing blankets on the ground (around a tree if possible) for an authentic dessert island picnic party!
- Decorate the party with pirate posters from childrens magazines (posters of islands, parrots, treasure chests etc) , if your children are into pirates you probably already have some of these in the house, you can also grab a few old halloween decorations (skulls are good) and place them around the room. Wrap the party favours in golden foil and store them in a chest/box and leave it in a corner of the room for giving out later - a very simple treasure chest decoration!
- Pirate party food - get creative in the kitchen, what do pirates eat? chicken drumsticks, pigs in blankets (sausage rolls) - you can really use your imagination here - if you want to call your drumsticks mini peg legs then do - children are much better at getting into the spirit of things than us adults and you will probably end up with many new pirate names for regular food when the party is over!
- Pirate party games - Again be creative, you could have a treasure hunt (let x mark the spot), a walk the plank game in the garden, musical pirates (like musical statues) or you could even buy a pirate pinata for your party for ready made fun!
- Buy pirate party supplies - there is a huge range of pirate party supplies available that are inexpensive for your pirate party invitations, party loot bags and pirate tablewear.
Pirate birthday parties are great fun and one of the easiest types of themed parties to plan because you don't have to worry about getting all the party decorations to match, pirates don't do co-ordinated!
